CIVILing Gay Unions
**Important Change in PFLAG Program and Venue for April 25th: “CIVILizing Gay Unions”**
Cairn Christian Church, 1700 Stonehenge, Lafayette, 80026
With the passage of Civil Unions by the Colorado legislature and the current presentation of oral arguments about marriage equality to the Supreme Court, the PFLAG program for Tuesday, April 9th has been changed. Larry Hoyt, a local attorney who has been in private practice and in government for over 35 years, and Jodi Martin, founding member of Martin Law Office LLC, and a practicing attorney for over 15 years, have agreed speak about the implications of the recent Colorado law which will take effect on May 1.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, April 25, 7:00pm, at Cairn Christian Church, 1700 Stonehenge, Lafayette, 80026, one block west of 287 off of Arapahoe Avenue. PFLAG is partnering with this progressive Disciples of Christ congregation (formerly First Christian Church on 28th Street) especially to outreach to East Boulder County with this timely presentation. This program is one of many to help Boulder County LGBTQ and allied people navigate the intricacies around civil unions in Colorado and marriage equality across the country. A fact sheet about legal ramifications will be provided to clarify the difference between state-sanctioned civil unions and marriage. Refreshments will be served. Free and open to the public.
